Telangana lawyers stage protest at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi, Feb 22: Violence over Telangana erupted once again as the pro-Telangana lawyers staged demonstration at the Jantar Mantar on Monday, Feb 22.
Demanding the immediate tabling of a bill in the parliament in favor of the creation of separate Telangana, around 1,500 pro-Telangana lawyers from Telangana region marched towards the parliament holding placards, which read "We want Telangana", "We need a separate state", "Let Centre bring a bill in Parliament immediately" and shouting slogans.
The protestors were intercepted by police forces who used water cannons to stop the agitated lawyers, while some of them were arrested.
The lawyers are at present staging a sit-out in front of the parliament, asking the Center to pass a bill during the current Budget session favoring the formation of Telangana state.
