Tiger Woods apologises for 'selfish' sexcapades

Florida, Feb 20: Apologising for his 'selfish' behaviour, Tiger Woods on Friday, Feb 19, made it clear that he has set no particular date of return to golf.

“I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was not acceptable," said the golfer said, reading out from a script.

“I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behaviour," he added while making his first public comments after his sexcapades surfaced in Dec 2009.

On returning back to the sport, the World's best golfer said, “I do plan to return to golf one day. I just don"t know when that day will be. I don"t rule out it will be this year."

Friday, Feb 19 event took place at the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse and was attended by about 40 people. Tiger's wife Elin was not among the attendees, however the golfer got support from his mother.

He also confirmed that he is going back to therapy to resolve personal issues. He has already spent 45 days in therapy for sex addiction.

However, the unforgiving international media continues to question the golfer, who indulged in multiple extra marital affairs. The tightly scripted public apology has raised skepticism among sports writers and bloggers, who wonder if the apology was truly sincere.
