New Delhi, Feb 20: Former defence minister George Fernandes has reportedly gone missing and the role of his estranged wife Leila and his only son Sean Fernandes behind his mysterious disappearance is being suspected.
According a report in CCN-IBN, Fernandes, who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease, has gone missing. The political leader's New Delhi residence has been shut from the outside and no one knows where he is now.
Fernandes' friends allege that his estranged wife and son have forcibly taken him to an undisclosed location on the pretext of giving him medical care, the report published on Saturday, Feb 20 said.
Fernandes' wife and son left him two decades ago claiming that Fernandes' brothers were trying to get their hands on the ex-minister's Rs. 25 crore-worth property.
The brothers have rubbished Leila's and Sean's accusations.
"We don't want his money. We want access to him," younger brother of Fernandes, Michael Fernandes is quoted as saying.
Led by the former chief justice of India MN Venkatachalaih, the friends of Fernandes have intiated a campaign demanding information on his whereabouts.
"It is a tragedy that a man like George who gave voice to millions of voiceless can't voice his own problems. His wife is taking advantage of it. We want to know about him," says a close friend of Fernandes, Ajay Singh
The brothers are also planning on moving a court seeking access to Fernandes.
