New Delhi, Feb 16(ANI): Delhi Police Commissioner Y. S. Dadwal on Tuesday assured foolproof security for the forthcoming international sporting events to be staged here, including the World Cup Hockey and the Commonwealth Games.

Addressing the media after a meeting on security and allied measures that was convened by the Home Ministry and attended by concerned officials and representatives associated with these sporting events, Dadwal said: "Elaborate security measures have been taken up for the games, that's all I would like to say."

He also mentioned that all preventive security measures have been taken for the smooth conduct of the mega sports events.

"We have received all that we demanded for, our regiments are in full place and as we had projected for the arrangements, we will do that. We will show perfect security arrangements," Dadwal added.

The World Cup hockey tournament is scheduled to be held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on February 28 and will go on till March 12.

Apart from the Indian team, international teams Pakistan, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands are participating in the tournament.

In October, 71 countries will participate in the Commonwealth Games 2010 to be held in various stadia in the capital. (ANI)
