Isreal: 'Rapist' irrestible to victims
Jerusalem, Feb 15: A 60-year-old Israeli man, who maintained a harem of women, has been charged with enslavement, rape, incest and other sexual offenses.

The accused, Goel Ratzon. who was arrested in Jan 2010, has fathered dozens of children with the women in his harem. While the man denies any wrongdoing saying that the women came to him voluntarily, the victims' accounts also seem to support the man's contention as they share tales of how irresistible he was.

Over the past few months, when Ratzon was behind the bars, the women revealed details of their unconventional lives, and described their attraction to him.

A Tel Aviv court on Sunday, Feb 15 produced a 25-page indictment against Ratzon, which accused him of taking up a 'godlike' persona to prey on vulnerable women.

The indictment also informs that the accused kept as many as 21 women, who have given birth to 49 of his children. He is learnt to have kept the women in crowded apartments in the Tel Aviv area.

He managed to keep the women in a state of near-total obedience, it said, adding Ratzon created an "image of an omnipotent one who was blessed with supernatural powers and the ability to heal, destroy and cast curses."

However, the women maintain that they connected to him spiritually. Many women have even tattooed his face or his name on their bodies.

They have even named the children with the variations of Ratzon's first name Goel, which means 'savior' in Hebrew.

The police, who knew about the activities of Ratzon, could not make an arrest till recently. This was made possible after three women came forward and lodged complaints with welfare associations.
