Shillong, Feb 15: In an unprovoked attack, the BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) troops fired at the BSF (Border Security Forces) along the Indo-Bangla border in Meghalaya on Sunday, Feb 14, officials said.

“Some villagers of Muktapur in Meghalaya went for fishing near the border when BDR opened fire at them, and BSF retaliated, but no one was injured," a BSF official said.

Few shots were also fired by the BDR troops at panic stricken villager of Naljuri and Rongtila, which eventually led to a flag meeting being held between both the forces.

In the meeting the BSF voiced their protest against the unprovoked firing by the BDR , which has happened for the second time within a span of ten days, official said.

On Feb 4, heavy firings were exchanged between both the troops on the grounds of alleged border intrusion by the BDR.
