Oz incest dad sentenced to 22 years in jail

Melbourne, Feb 15: The 'Josef Fritzl' of Australia was slapped with 22 years prison term for sexually abusing his daughter over the past 30 years and forcing her to mother four of his children.

The 66-year-old father, who had sexually abused his daughter since the time she was 13, was convicted of incest on Monday, Feb 15 by a country court in Victoria State.

The victim who suffered abuse well into her adult years had informed about this torture to social workers. But no police complaint was lodged.

Judge Susan Pullen who pronounced the judgment said, "You defiled your daughter over many years on a regular basis. Your offending involved a gross breach of trust."

"To describe your treatment of your daughter as appalling is a gross understatement," she added.

The father was sent to 22 years and five months' imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to two counts of indecently assaulting a girl under 16, ten counts of incest and one of common assault.

One of biggest incest cases that shocked the world in Apr 2008 was the Fritzl case. In Austria, a 42-year-old woman, Elisabeth Fritzl told the police that she was captive for 24 years and physically and sexually abuse repeatedly by her father Josef Fritzl.

Ever since the case came to light in 2008, the fathers, who have been charged of incest, have been either tagged with 'Fritzl' or are called 'moster' dads, a name which was given to Fritzl during his trial.
