London, Feb. 14 (ANI): Portuguese and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has said that Manchester United's financial worries "sadden" him.
When asked if he is concerned about his former club's current financial situation, the Portugal international replied: "You'll have to ask David Gill!"
"Maybe it does sadden me, but I am not thinking about this. I am just thinking about Real Madrid. I don't play for Manchester United any more. Madrid is my dream club, yes one of my dream clubs," News of the World quoted Ronaldo, as saying.
Ronaldo's move to the Bernabeu may have swelled the Old Trafford coffers to the tune of 80 million pounds but precious little of it has been spent by Sir Alex Ferguson amid worries over the debt mountain at the Premier League champions.
Ferguson insisted it was his decision not to splash the cash and CEO David Gill used a failed bid for Karim Benzema last summer as evidence that there is money available.
Gill was involved in a row with a United supporter at a Q and A session in Birmingham this week when being pressed on the Glazers' controversial ownership of the club.
Ronaldo may be missing life in the Premier League but he is rather focused on proving his worth in Madrid. (ANI)
