Pak should focus on combating poverty: Gadkari
New Delhi, Feb 11: BJP Chief Nitin Gadkari said that Pakistan should focus on combating problems like poverty and illiteracy instead of providing shelter to terrorist groups.
Gadkari was speaking to an eminent Pakistan editor and internationally renowned Urdu poet Mahmud Shaam on Wednesday, Feb 10.
According to reports, Gadkari noted that both South Asian countries were facing acute challenges of poverty and infrastructure development.
"It is in the interest of Pakistan to work with India for development and eradication of poverty and spread education instead of providing shelter to terrorist groups," the BJP chief said.
Shaam expressed hope that under his (Gadkari) leadership bilateral ties would improve bringing peace in the region.
He also asserted that the Pakistani people were against terrorists and wanted peace with India.
