Pak NA Sports committee chairman asks for foolproof security for cricketers

By Super Admin

Islamabad, Feb.6 (ANI): Fearing a backlash from fans over Pakistan cricket team's complete whitewash Down Under, National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports Chairman Jamshed Ahmed Dasti, has urged the government to provide the players foolproof security upon their return from Australia.

"The players are likely to face angry mobs on their return and the best way to save them from an ultimate crowd bashing is to assure foolproof security," The Dawn quoted Dasti, as saying.

Pakistan didn't win a single match in the series. It lost the Test series 3-0 and the one-day tournament 5-0.

The Twenty20 World Champions also the lone T20 match by two wickets.

Dasti expressed disappointment at the team's humiliating performance, saying players lacked the ability to perform under pressure.

"Look at the way we lost in Australia. It is lack of mental toughness and the ability to focus on the given task, which led to the humiliating defeats," he said.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Operating Officer (COO) Wasim Bari said the board has contacted concerned authorities in Punjab and Sindh to insure full security to the cricketers.

Bari hoped players would give their best in forthcoming tournaments.

"We played well, with fighting spirit in the Twenty20 match against the Aussies.

The Pakistan cricket team will put in all its energies in the upcoming international events," he said.(ANI)
