While the Bal Thackeray-led party has launching a war against Bollywood badshah Shahrukh Khan over his support for Pakistan players in IPL 3, a blog post by Amitabh Bachchan has nothing but good things to say about the party supremo and his son Uddhav Thakeray.
Big B's blog post reads, "Uddhav Thakeray calls. He has just come out of the theatre after 'Rann' and is not able to find appropriate words to describe his appreciation for the film and the performance. Minutes later Bala Saheb calls. 'I want to see this film. Come and show it to me!' 'You have not been to see me for a long time!' I assure him I shall arrange a projection in his house. I ask after his health. He is fine he says."
He goes on to praise Bal Thackeray for his 'resolute and firm' disposition despite his health condition leaving him 'frail'.
It was not so long ago that both Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Shiv Sena had problems with the Bollywood icon.
In Apr 2008, an article in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Samana read, "Several actors, who live in Mumbai achieve fame and glory. But when it comes to taking a firm stand on the issue of Marathi or regional pride, many of them including film star Amitabh Bachchan backtrack."
However before this, in Feb 2008, Bal Thackeray had come to the rescue of Amitabh when his nephew and splinter Sena leader Raj Thackeray attack the star.
"Why did Amitabh Bachchan choose to contest elections from Uttar Pradesh and do all his social work there? What has Amitabh Bachchan done for Maharashtra? If I say he is more loyal to UP, what wrong did I say?" Raj Thackeray had questioned.
While these political flip-flops are common in the Indian political scenario, the move by Amitabh has left the country wondering whose side is he on in the SRK-Sena spat.
