Hyderabad, Jan 29: The all-party Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Telangana has given 10 more days to the Government to decide on the creation of a separate Telangana state.
On Thursday night, Jan 28, the JAC decided to wait till Feb 7 and intensify their agitation if the Centre fails to act within the deadline.
The JAC also extended by 10 days deadline for all legislators to quit over the demand for the formation of the separate state.
The decision comes after Union home minister P Chidambaram announced that the government would announce next week a committee on Telangana.
Speaking to reporters, JAC convenor M Kodandaram said, "The Congress leaders have clarified that the proposed committee is meant for formation of Telangana state and that it will have a time-bound programme."
"If the Centre failed to announce the committee with a clear time-frame, the MLAs (legislators) will press the assembly speaker to accept their resignations," he said.
