Haldiram owner gets life term for murder attempt
Kolkata, Jan 29: A city court here on Friday, Jan 29, awarded life imprisonment to Prabhu Shankar Agarwal, the owner of confectionery chain Halidram Bhujiawala for conspiring to murder a tea stall owner.
Prabhu Shankar Agarwal and four others were convicted by Tapan Sen, judge of fourth fast track court here
Four others are Gopal Tiwari, the hired killer, Raja Sonkar, Monoj Thakur and Arun Khandelwal.
The five were found guilty of conspiring to murder Pramod Sharma, nephew of the tea stall owner Satyanarayan Sharma on Mar 30, 2005.
Gopal Tiwari entered the house of Pramod Sharma, the tea stall owner, and shot him from a close range. Luckily he was hit in the leg and managed to escape.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Sharma, the police arrested Agarwal. Subsequently, it was revealed from the interrogation of Agarwal that there were four others involved in the crime.
