Aligarh (UP), Jan 29 (ANI): More than 500 junior doctors at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have gone on strike demanding a probe into the alleged irregularities in the entrance examination for post-graduate (PG) courses

The doctors complained that there were many irregularities in the entrance examination held on Sunday for the MD, MS, and MDS (Masters in Dental Surgery) courses.hey also lamented that the university administration failed to carry out a proper probe forcing the junior doctors to take the extreme step of strike.

Dr. Hashim, one of the protesting doctors said that mass copying, release of keys to answers on the Internet and erratic sitting arrangements were some of the gross irregularities making the examination a sham.

"There were many problems in the tests conducted for the MD, MS and MDS examinations. Mobile phones were allowed in the examination hall, a complaint of impersonation was also there. Further, it wasn't clear if there was any negative marking in the paper. Also, the series of the paper was also same, which were announced by the invigilator later and cheating was also carried out in the hall. When we complained about all these to the Controller of Examinations, they said that a little cheating is okay as they are internal students and there is no problem if mobile phones are allowed in the examination hall. The university administration has not given any satisfactory response to our appeals so far," said Dr. Hashim.

The entrance examination was conducted for 160 seats for which 295 candidates had appeared. (ANI)
