Jaipur, Jan. 26 (ANI): Scores of devotees thronged to a temple in Jaipur to have a glimpse of Lord Krishna dressed in the national flag, to mark India's 61st Republic Day.

Amazed at the new attire of lord Krishna, locally known as Thakurjee, devotees said it was the perfect way of celebrating the Republic Day.

"The devotees who come here believe that they should celebrate the Republic Day with the almighty and instill the feeling of patriotism among the devotees. Therefore, in this regard, we have decorated Lord Krishna with the tri-colors of the national flag," said Mahant Purushottam, a priest.

This temple is the first of its kind to promote patriotism apart from spiritualism.

"The devotees come here to pray and perform rituals, but today we are celebrating this Republic Day as a festival. So, every devotee who comes here expresses his love for the country as well respect for the almighty," said Mukesh, a devotee.

Along with the regular Vedic chants, the priests and the devotees inside the temple premises also sang national anthem. (ANI)
