New Delhi, Jan 25: The great Indian hockey crisis continues after the upheaval against non-payment of dues launched by both the men's and women's team, as former captain Pargat Singh has now sparked off a new controversy by dubbing the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president, Suresh Kalmadi as the 'sports mafia'.
Launching a scathing attack against the IOA chief, the former skipper on Sunday, Jan 24, alleged that Kalmadi was trying everything to become the Hockey India (HI) chief and held him responsible for the mess in Indian hockey.
Pargat, the Hockey Punjab secretary, not only slammed the sport's governing body for postponing the Feb 7 election, but accused Kalmadi of being 'up to something sinister'.
Rubbing Pargat's allegations, Kalmadi said, "I'm not connected with Hockey India, I have the Commonwealth Games to look after and so I'm not getting into all those things."
"It's all his figment of imagination, I have nothing to say about that," he added.
