Lucknow, Jan 23: Another controversial 'slap-gate' has emerged and this time it is that of a district magistrate slapping a junior government employee.
The Lucknow government official, Amit Ghosh, was caught on camera slapping a junior employee thrice at the agriculture directorate or Krishi Bhawan.
The employee apparently invited the district magistrate's wrath for not responding to his queries,
However, there are reports which say otherwise. The victim was reportedly assaulted when he was trying to do his job.
The district magistrate is believed to have raised his hand against the employee for asking him to show his identity card.
The incident took place when Ghosh, along with some civil servants and police officers, was touring government buildings to ensure that employees were at work following a recent strike launched by the workers demanding a hike in salaries.
Media reports quoting official sources say that a probe has been ordered into the matter.
This incident, however, raises the question if any extent of provocation, if present, can justify the government officials holding big posts to behave this way.
