"By not attending (the funeral) and justifying her absence, she has insulted the people of Bengal who turned out in lakhs. Now they will have to decide," CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said on Thurday, Jan 21.
His response came when the reporters asked him to comment on the Railway Minister's absence at the Tuesday, Jan 19 funeral.
He went on to say that one should keep political differences aside when it comes to such occasions and that this is excepted in cultures across the world.
"It is also elementary human decency and a matter of courtesy and political morality," Yechury said.
