London, Jan.21 (ANI): Debt-ridden Manchester United amazingly paid its CEO David Gill 1.8-million-pounds last year.
Gill's wages increased by 100,000 pounds from what he had earned in 2008 and by 320,000 pounds from what he had earned in 2007.
The news comes when cutbacks are being made, including denying 'non-essential' staff free breakfast at the training ground.
Accounts showed that United's parent company Red Football Joint Venture Limited racked up an overall debt of 716.5 million pounds this year.
Figures also show the Glazer family paying 68.5 million pounds in interest in 2009.
The owners are reportedly in buy-out talks with Qatar sheikhs. (ANI)
