London, Jan 20: In the series of fatal attacks of Indians abroad, an 18-year old girl of Indian-origin was stabbed to death in UK by a suspected robber, while she was on her way home.
According to a newspaper report, passerby found Asha Muneer, an A-level student with her head down besides the River Kennet in Reading, Berkshire, with some contents of her handbag strewn nearby.
The post-mortem revealed that Muneer died from multiple stab wounds.
While police have arrested a nineteen-year-old in connnecton with the case, the actual motive behind the murder is yet to be confirmed.
“We continue to keep an open mind as to the motive for Asha"s death. A team of detectives working on the investigation are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry," Thames Valley police spokesman detective superintendent Karen Trego said.
The teenager was an A-levels student at Highdown School in Caversham, Berks and was preparing for university.
