SP workers protest price rise; Mulayam detained
Lucknow, Jan 19: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was on a dharna to protest against rising food prices, was taken into preventive custody here.
According to police, Yadav was detained when he was sitting on a dharna at the city's main Hazratganj crossing.
Samajwadi Party had called for a protest against price rise at all district headquarters on Tuesday, Jan 19.
Party supporters clashed with police who prevented them from taking out a march to the district magistrate's office as part of their protest.
Police then lathi-charged them.
