Oz: Two arrested for assaulting Indian cabbie
Melbourne, Jan 18: Two Australian men have been arrested for assaulting an Indian taxi driver and will be produced in court on Monday, Jan 18.
The incident happened on Friday night, Jan 16, when the two men were picked up by a 23-year old taxi driver in Geelong city.
The both have been identified as Robert Harvey, 25, and Andrew Madden, 24, of Norlane.
They allegedly set upon the driver shortly afterwards at the intersection of Sparks Rd and the Princes Highway where he suffered bruising and swelling to the face and head.
According to police, the two men were remanded in custody and charged with robbery and assault-related crimes.
However, there was no confirmation by the police on whether the attack was racially motivated.
