Mumbai, Jan 16: Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on Friday, Jan 15 personally called up Ustad Amjad Ali Khan to express regret over the damage caused to his sarod on an Air India flight.
In what came a major embarrassment to the national carrier, the maestro was forced to cancel his concert at the Chembur Fine Arts Society (CFAS) scheduled for Thursday, Jan 14 night as his favourite sarod was damaged on a flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
"My heart is bleeding. I don't want to make any claims since Air India is our national carrier, but I do wish they had taken more care of the delicate baggage," he told a news agency on Thursday, Jan 14.
However, Amjad Ali Khan did not lodge any formal complaint against the AI officials.
Patel promised the musician that the concerned Air India personnel would be advised to exercise due care over such sensitive and delicate baggage in future.
