Shahid Afridi voted Australia's No.1 import for Twenty20 Big Bash series

By Super Admin

London, Jan. 9 (ANI): Pakistani power-hitter Shahid Afridi has been voted the No. 1 import to Australia for the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash series, according to a poll conducted by Fox Sports.

The all-rounder imported by South Australia has left behind West Indian heavyweights Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle.

Afridi polled 671 votes, almost 40 per cent of the responses, while Bravo netted 473 votes.

With all sides now through three of their five scheduled matches, South Australia are in the box seat to claim a home final and direct passage through to the lucrative Champions League tournament, Fox Sports reports.

Afridi, who has played 26 Tests for his country, has made 43 runs at an average of 14.33 in the middle order.

His strike rate of 153.57 is a shade better than he came into the tournament with across 53 T20 matches.

But it has been with the ball that Afridi has done his best work. At an economy rate of 6.25 runs per over, the quick leg-spin bowler has taken five wickets so far.

Bravo's bowling has been more expensive; he's going for 11.11 runs per over and has two fewer wickets than Afridi.

Windies skipper Gayle's devastating form in the three-Test series against Australia has carried over to the condensed version of the sport. (ANI)
