Kolkata, Jan 8: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday, Jan 8, said that there were indications that the ULFA was ready for talks.
Speaking to reporters, Gogai said, "Some positive signals are there that they are willing to hold discussion with us. We are expecting something in writing."
He made it clear that the Assam government was ready to talk to the ULFA on all matters except on its demand for sovereignty.
"Lack of employment opportunity was the main reason for rise in insurgency. But the situation has improved. This has led to a number of ULFA leaders surrendering," he said.
