ULFA chief issues threats for publicity: Assam DGP
New Delhi, Jan 7: Downplaying ULFA' ULFA 'commander-in-chief' Paresh Barua's threat on Wednesday, Jan 6, Assam DGP Sankar Barua said on Thursday, Jan 7 that the police was ready to face any attack.
"This is nothing new for us. This threat is always there on us and vital installations. We are alert and ready to face any eventuality. We do take precautions," Barua said.
Citing that ULFA has always made similar threats before important dates like Jan 26 and Aug 15, the DGP said that ULFA chief was just doing it for publicity.
"They always make these threats. Paresh Barua wants to have his name published in the media."
However, he said that the threat will not been taken lightly, though some of the key leaders are in jail.
"We will have to be extra vigilant, extra alert 24 hours and will have to prevent it. This is like a football game. If they score one goal, we will have to score two goals," he said.
