SL recovers LTTE chief Prabhakaran's personal gun
Colombo, Jan 6: The personal gun and body armour belonging to the slain chief of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Vellupilai Prabhakaran have been recovered.
Sri Lanka on Tuesday, Jan 5 said that arms used by Prabhakaran along with suicide kits and anti-aircraft guns were found buried 15 feet under the ground at Vellamulliwaikkal area in Mulaittivu.
As per the local media reports, Senior DIG for Vavuniya Nimal Lewke has confirmed that the M-16A2 with a grenade launcher used by the Tamil Tiger chief as his personal weapon has been found.
With a total of 125 suicide kits, 50 mortar bombs, 25 anti-aircraft guns have been recovered so far, the Lankan security personnel continue to purge the northern region, the stronghold of LTTE, for more weapons.
The rebel Tiger chief was killed on May 18 after months of offensive launched by the Sri Lankan government in 2009.
