Ahead of Telangana talks, Rosaiah meets PM

New Delhi, Jan 5: Ahead of the crucial Jan 5 meeting convened by the Centre to resolve the Telangana crisis, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior members of the Union Cabinet.

Rosaiah arrived at the capital on Monday, Jan 4 and met Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Defence Minister A K Antony.

Accompanied by the union ministers, he later went to the Prime Minister's House.

On being asked if the talks will resolve the issue of statehood, Rosaiah said "I am attending the meeting as Chief Minister."

The Chief Minister reportedly spoke to Mr Chidambaram on his role at Tuesday, Jan 5 talks.

The meeting will be attended by eight political parties including Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), TRS, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India-Marxist, Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
