Bandh for united AP cripples non-Telangana regions
Hyderabad, Jan 4: A bandh called by the All party Joint Action Committee (JAC), protesting the division of Andhra Pradesh to crave out a separate Telangana, paralysed normal life in the non-Telangana regions of the state on Monday, Jan 4.
"We called for a complete bandh to send a message to the Center that majority of people want a United Andhra Pradesh," Prof Samuel, Convenor of Samkhya Andhra (United Andhra Pradesh) JAC said in Vijayawada.
Business establishments, schools, colleges remained shut and the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) suspended its services across Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions as a precautionary measure.
Ahead of the crucial meeting scheduled on Tuesday, Jan 5, JAC has called for a rail roko in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema to coincide with the meeting convened by the Centre to discuss the Telangana issue in New Delhi.
