Sydney, Jan 3(ANI): Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has warned Andrew Strauss-led England team that regaining the Ashes is his primary target.
Ponting also admitted that last year's 2-1 Ashes defeat still haunts him, and his team is desperate to win it back when England visits this year.
"England arrive in Australia this year as holders of the Ashes and every training or playing session we have is undertaken with the over-riding aim of winning them back," News of the World quoted Ponting, as saying.
The 35-year-old, who became cricket's most successful-ever captain with 42 victories after the Boxing Day win over Pakistan, said that the series loss to England was upsetting.
"We lost just three of 13 Tests in 2009, but two of them were in the Ashes. That hurt. We felt the loss of the Ashes very deeply and are determined to do something about it," Ponting said.I am very confident of our progress this year," he added. (ANI)
