PCB's internal politics delaying decision on Younis Khan's SCG Test chances

By Super Admin

Melbourne, Dec.31 (ANI): Despite desperate calls from captain Mohammad Yousuf to send experienced Younis Khan to Australia to bolster the batting line-up which failed to score 300 runs in either of the two innings in the first Test, he is unlikely to join the visitors Down Under on time for the second Test.

Following the team's poor show at the MCG, Yousuf had sent an SOS to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to send Younis immediately, however, the board is yet to reply to the request, as it is caught in its own petty politics.

The fractious nature of Pakistani cricket politics resulted in Younis stepping down as captain and opting out of the recent New Zealand series. Younis said he lacked support from the team.

Yousuf said the former captain is ready to take a flight to Australia, but was not able to determine whether Younis will be there on time for the second Test at Sydney starting January 3.

"Obviously Younus is a very experienced player and a very good player. He's got a 50 average in Test matches. We miss him a lot. He is a very crucial No.3. We already told them (PCB) to send him - they decide now. I think they have not decided yet. I don't know when he is coming," Fox Sports quoted Yousuf, as saying. (ANI)
