'Israel working on remote controlled weapons'
Jerusalem, Dec 28: Just like a scene out of a science fiction movie, Israel is developing remote controlled weapons systems.
The Israel defence industries are working on a battlefield scenario where armies use robotic weapons, reports Hareetz.
These weapons, which would operated by remote control on land, air and sea, will make possible a war without a trace of any human soldier on the battlefield.
The project includes self-detonating grenades, thinking bullets and robot warriors.
The report points out that first robotic systems are already being used by the Israel Defence Forces and other armies and only budgetary constraints seem to be keeping this away from becoming a reality.
This weaponry system could be a reality by 2020, the Israeli newspaper stated in the report published on Sunday, Dec 27.
