Ranchi, Dec 26 (ANI): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Shibu Soren on Saturday staked claim to form a new government in Jharkhand.
Soren who met the state Governor K Shankarnarayan handed over a list of 43 legislators to him.
Jharkhand assembly has 81-members.
Earlier, Governor K. Sankaranarayanan had asked Soren to produce a list of MLAs supporting him as the BJP gave enough indications of backing his claim to form a government.
In morning, the BJP and All Jharkhand Students Union extended their support to the JMM, which won 18 seats in the recently concluded assembly poll.
In the recently concluded assembly poll which created a hung assembly in the state with the Congress emerging as the single largest alliance by grabbing 25 seats. BJP stood second with 18 seats and its ally JD (U) managed to get two seats. The JMM won 18 seats while independent candidates and other parties won from 18 constituencies.(ANI)
