Chandigarh, Dec 26: CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat on Saturday, Dec 26, met Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and sought the reopening of Ruchika's molestation case.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Hooda, Karat said that the Haryana Chief Minister has assured of action against the former state DGP SPS Rathore in the case.
"The CM has said that he will take action after holding legal consultations," she said adding that Hooda agreed with her that Rathore should be jailed soon.
The CPI(M) leader further said that she has asked the Chief Minister to get Rathore"s bail cancelled.
"There are two aspects of the case - one is criminal and the other is political. Action should be taken against those who shielded Rathore and also his bail should be cancelled and he should be sent to jail," Karat added.
14-year-old Ruchika, a budding tennis player, was molested on Aug12, 1990 by the then Inspector General of Police Rathore.
The girl committed suicide three years later by consuming poison as the police official continued to harass her family.
