Shimla, Dec 24: A private bus in Shimla overturned on Thursday, Dec 24, leaving about 23 out of the 30 passengers injured.
According to a news agency report, Superintendent of Police R.M. Sharma said that the mishap took place near the police headquarters at 5.45 a.m.
"The cause of the accident seemed to be some mechanical failure of the bus," he said.
The injured has been admitted in Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital. Among those injured, two people, including a child is reported to have sustained serious injuries.
Just weeks before the incident Transport Minister Mohinder Singh on Dec 14 had informed the state assembly that the government is adopting preventive measure to control number of accidents, which includes banning the use of mobile phone while driving.
"Most of the accidents have occurred due to human errors. Rash driving, overloading and the use of mobile phones are primarily responsible for the accidents," Singh said.
