New Delhi, Dec 23: A youth, hailing from Haryana, was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport for allegedly threatening to hijack a Mumbai-bound Jet Airways fight.

The youth, identified as Anil, was reportedly boarding the plane along with his five companions on Tuesday, Dec 22 night when he started an argument with the crew in an 'inebriated condition'.

The argument over the rescheduling of the flight from 10:30 pm to 12:30 am led to Anil threatening the crew saying that he had a "bomb in his bag", the police informed.

Following this, the crew caught the group of youngsters and alerted the airport security.

CISF personnel took all six into custody and later handed them over to police.

All six were put through a medical test to ascertain if they had consumed alcohol. The five companions of Anil were let off after inquiry, while Anil has been arrested.

"A case has been registered against Anil for allegedly threatening to hijack the plane and creating nuisance in an inebriated condition. A complaint was lodged by the airport authorities," a senior police officer said.
