New Delhi, Dec 23: Apart from proposing the setting up of National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Home Ministe P Chidambaram also suggested bifurcation of the ministry on Wednesday, Dec 23.
While delivering the a lecture on 'Intelligence Bureau Centenary Endowment' in New Delhi, the minister spoke on the need to create a separate ministry to handle matters not related to internal security.
"Subjects not directly related to internal security should be dealt with by a separate ministry or should be brought under a separate department in the MHA and dealt with by a minister, more or less independently, without referring every issue to the Home Minister," Chidambaram said.
"The Home Minister should devote the whole of his/her time and energy to matters relating to security," he added.
The minister also called for radical restructuring in the security architecture and proposed the establishment of NCTC.
