New Delhi, Dec 21: The police on Sunday, Dec 20 reportedly arrested an ex-MLA of the Bharatiya Janata Party in connection with the murder of his 21-year-old granddaughter.

Former BJP MLA Ashok Vir Vikram Singh alias Bhaiyya Raja was arrested for plotting the murder of his granddaughter Vasundhara Bundela, whose body was found on the outskirts of Bhopal on Friday, Dec 11, the Indian Express reports.

Vasundhara, who was a student of fashion designing was allegedly shot dead by the BJP leader's driver identified as Bhupendra Singh alias Halke.

As per family's inputs, the police learnt that the driver was the one who saw her last as he was supposed to drop Vasundhara at her hostel early on Dec 11, after she spent the Dec 10 night at Singh's house in Kolar.

The victim moved to Bhopal from Chhatarpur about two years ago and was living in a girls' hostel in M P Nagar. She reportedly had an abortion recently.

Singh, who was questioned over the last five days, tried to use political leverage to get out the situation. Singh had reportedly called on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who refused to interfere, the media report said.
