Younis Khan likely to return for ODI's against Aussies

By Super Admin

Karachi, Dec. 18 (ANI) : Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is likely to return to international cricket from his self declared short exile during the forthcoming one-day series against Australia.

Khan is set to lead his domestic squad in the final match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final on December 21, and is also expected to take part in the Pentagular Cup in January, 2010.

Chief Selector Iqbal Qasim said he had a chat with the right-handed batsman earlier this week, during which he looked keen to get back into the national team.

"I had a discussion with him (Younis) recently and believe that he is in a positive frame of mind. Younis has made up his mind to play in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final as well as the Pentangular Cup and that is a good sign," The News quoted Qasim, as saying.

Khan had opted out of the Test series against New Zealand, saying he needed rest from the hectic international schedule.

Qasim said that while it is too late for Khan to make it to the Test squad for the series against the Kangaroos, he would surely be considered for the one-day series.

"I can't say anything about the Test series but it might already be too late.I mean we already have 16 players in Australia and will be sending another man there soon," the chief selector said referring to Mohammad Sami, who would joining the team for the Test series. (ANI)
