Melbourne, Dec 18 (ANI): British psychologists have discovered the best way to fight 'earworms', the unwanted catchy tunes that repeat in your head.
According to the experts, 'earworms' are often greater in length and are remembered for longer than our auditory memory capacity was previously thought to allow, reports ABC Online.
To reach the conclusion, researchers Philip Beaman and Tim Williams of the University of Reading, conducted two studies exploring the nature of earworm experiences, as well as their causes and methods of removing them.
After analyses, Beaman concluded that to remove an earworm you should "basically do nothing since attempts to distract yourself seem to be self-defeating."
The study appears in an upcoming edition of the British Journal of Psychology. (ANI)
