Siddle ruled out of Perth Test, McKay to make debut

By Super Admin

Perth, Dec.15 (ANI): Injured Australian pacer Peter Siddle has been ruled out of the third Test against the West Indies starting at the WACA Ground on Wednesday.

Team physiotherapist Alex Kontouris said Siddle pulled up stiff after a long bowling stint in the nets on Monday.

A sore hamstring had troubled him during the recent drawn second Test in Adelaide.

Siddle's absence opens the way for fellow Victorian quick Clint McKay to make his Test debut against the West Indies.

In other news, Kontouris said off-spinner Nathan Hauritz has hurt his finger during a fielding drill.

McKay, 26, will join two-Test newcomer Doug Bollinger in a highly inexperienced pace attack led by Mitchell Johnson.

All-rounder Shane Watson dismissed any injury doubts by bowling a considerable amount of overs in the nets today and will no doubt be used as the fourth pace option.

McKay made his one-day international debut for Australia against India last month and was selected ahead of Stuart Clark for the second Test in Adelaide when Ben Hilfenhaus was ruled out. (ANI)
