New Delhi, Dec 13 (ANI): Members of the Rajya Sabha today paid tribute to security personnel and a CPWD employee, who lost their lives during the terror attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001.

Chairman Hamid Ansari announced that Sunday would mark the 8th anniversary of the attacks in the parliament and expressed full support from members present in condemning the incident that took place.

"I am sure, the whole House will join me in condemning this incident in unequivocal terms. We once again reiterate our firm resolve to fight terrorism with determination and re-dedicate ourselves to protect the sovereignty and integrity of our nation," he said.

Five heavily gunmen had stormed into the Parliament five years ago and opened fire indiscriminately killing nine people on the spot. All the five terrorists were later shot dead by the security personnel.

Two staff of Parliament security service from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, five Delhi Police personnel and a woman constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed in the terrorist attack. A gardener of the CPWD had also lost his life in the tragic incident.

The House observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect in the memory of those who lost their lives in the attack.

A blood donation camp has also been organised on this occasion. (ANI)
