Now, Pak's Davis Cup tie against Hong Kong shifted from Lahore over security fears

By Super Admin

Lahore, Dec. 12 (ANI): The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has shifted Pakistan's Davis Cup tie against Hong Kong from Lahore citing security concerns.

The Group-II match of the Davis Cup, which was scheduled to be held in March 2010, has now been relocated to Hong Kong itself, The Daily Times reports.

"The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has received a letter from the ITF confirming the decision of the Davis Cup match being shifted to Hong Kong. The Davis Cup committee, as per Davis Cup regulations, has decided that Pakistan will lose choice of ground for this tie. The Davis Cup committee further decided that the tie will be held in Hong Kong from March 5-7, 2010," a statement issued by the PTF stated.

This is the third time in a year that Pakistan has lost hosting rights of a Davis Cup match because of security reasons.

Earlier this year, Pakistan's Davis Cup opener was shifted to Muscat from Lahore, while the next round's match against the Philippines was moved to Manila. (ANI)
