London, December 12 (ANI): A gay British soldier had to face more than just enemies while fighting the Taliban.
Ben Rakestrow, from Exeter, was an openly gay squaddie during his six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The 21-year-old trooper, who came out a year ago, said he was accepted for who he was with just a bit of harmless banter.
"I get banter from them all the time, but it's good banter," the Daily Star quoted him as saying.
"They all want to know about my life, they ask a lot of questions, you can imagine. I don't find it hard to talk about it." (ANI)
