Theo Walcott, the children's author

By Super Admin

London, Dec 10(ANI): Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has signed a lucrative new deal, as a children's author.

A top book publisher has snapped up the 20-year-old after he penned two stories for fun about a hero schoolboy, who happens to be a football wonderkid.

Walcott, who is working on turning the books into a series, also confessed that the adventures of the schoolboy, TJ, mirror his own life.

"Many of my experiences as a young footballer will be relived by TJ in the stories. I'm really excited to be working on this series," The Sun quoted Walcott, as saying.

Walcott, whose school nickname was TJ and who scored more than 100 goals in one season for AFC Newbury, is hopeful that his books will prove to be rip-roaring yarns that also appeal to girls.

"Books played an important part in our family life as I was growing up," Walcott said.

His inspirational tales, poised to hit shelves in April 2010, have been hailed as "full of action and passion". (ANI)
