New Delhi, Dec 10: With the government conceding to the demands of the one of the most vocal separatist organisations Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) initiating agitation demanding a separate Gorkhaland, more campaigns are expected to surface.
Besides Telangana and Gorkhaland, the Home Ministry has received demands of at least eight other states including Coorg in Karnataka, and Saurashtra in Gujarat.
The demands are mostly from political parties and organisations like GJM, and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) while some are from individuals, said sources.
RLD President Ajit Singh has also threatened to launch a campaign for separate Harit Pradesh carved out of western Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, Dec 10.
The other demands include Mithilanchal or Mithila state comprising districts of Northern Bihar, a new Greater Cooch Behar state formed out of parts of West Bengal, Assam, a Vidarbha state in Maharashtra, a Bhojpur state comprising areas of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and the long overdue Bundelkhand state, comprising districts like Banda, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Sagar of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
