California politician abandons effort to award Congressional Gold Medal to Woods

By Super Admin

Washington, Dec 10(ANI): California politician Joe Baca, an passionate golfer who has pushed legislation to award a Congressional Gold Medal to World No. 1 Tiger Woods since 2000, has said that he is abandoning the effort.

"In light of the recent developments surrounding Tiger Woods and his family, I will not pursue legislation awarding him the Congressional Gold Medal this session," The Fox News quoted Baca, as saying.

Baca is the chairman of the "golf committee in the US House of Representatives, a subset of the House Professional Sports Caucus.

Though Baca had not earned any co-sponsors to his Woods legislation, but he did succeed in getting the medal awarded to another golf legend, Arnold Palmer.

The only other golfer awarded the Gold Medal was Byron Nelson, who was honored shortly after his death in 2006.

Woods' squeaky-clean image was wrecked since the controversy began on Thanksgiving weekend after a blazing row with his Swedish wife Elin.

And in a few days he was accused of bedding New York socialite Rachel Uchitel, LA cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, Vegas club worker Kolika Moquin, among eight others. (ANI)
