Panaji, Dec 9: The Goan politician accused in the Russian woman's rape case, has reportedly surrendered to the Goa crime branch, which is currently handling the case.
This is the first time John Fernandes' appeared before the police, police told a news agency.
Apart from this, the car allegedly used and clothes worn by him during the assault were also surrendered to the police.
On Tuesday, Dec 8 the accused was granted bail raising speculations in the media if the police and the authorities were siding with the high-profile politician.
The victim, who claims to have been sexually assaulted on Dec 1, has also accused the local police of not cooperating with her.
On Monday, Dec 7, the local police handed over the case to the crime branch.
