Dell earns $6.5 mn in sales through Twitter
New York, Dec 9: Dell has reportedly earned an estimated amount of 6.5 million dollars in sales of PCs, accessories, and software through promotions on the popular microblogging site Twitter.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Dell's vice president for the company's online unit, Manish Mehta said that the number of people who have started following Dell's tweets has surged 23 percent.
The DellOutlet account, which announces the most of the vendor's sales, currently enjoys 1.5 million followers.
Bloomberg reports that the company which considers Twitter as an integral part of its operations, has more than 100 employees sending out the tweets to customers.
"It's a very vibrant channel for us and it's growing aggressively. It's not just our reach and growth that has progressed, it's that it's happening globally," Mehta is quoted as saying in the report.
