Cong also responsible for masjid demolition: SP
New Delhi, Dec 9: After the Lok Sabha saw a two-day debate over the Liberhan Commission report, the inquiry report on 1992 Babri Masjid demolition rocked the Raj Sabha on Wednesday, Dec 9 with Congress and Samajwadi Party ganging up against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Congress' Abhishek Singhvi accused the 'hypocratic' BJP of diverting from the main issue saying, "The issue is who demolished the Babri Masjid and why did they do it."
The Senior Supreme Court lawyer also added that the Dec 6, 1992 demolition was a "carefully conceived and calibrated conspiracy.... Enormous pre-planning was involved."
Referring to the BJP's constant assertion that the demolition was not pre-planned, Singh blamed the party of trying to deceive others into believing that the incident was a spontaneous one.
"They (BJP) think they eat grain while rest eat grass," he said.
Samajwadi Party's Amar Singh said that both Congress and BJP were responsible to the demolition. While BJP had sown the seeds of hatred, Congress and the then Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao remained mute spectators, he said.
